Not the Reason for The Season

I am horrified and after being disturbed all day, I have to vent. I hope you don't mind indulging me.

My hubby just told me that we are invited to an old "friend's" birthday party in a couple of days. I was told I had to bring dollar bills.

"What for?"

For the surprise Santa Claus stripper.

First of all, I am not a huge fan of Santa. I don't appreciate how he has hijacked the true meaning of Christmas.

Secondly, Santa Claus stripping down to a g-string is not a visual I would appreciate.Ewwwwww.
During the Christmas Holidays; Holy-days, this whole idea just seems sad.

Thirdly, if I have extra dollars to throw around, they will be thrown in the direction of worthwhile charities to help the widows, orphans, homeless, hungry.

Someone told me : "lighten up", "it's just for fun", "don't be so judgemental".

It appears that I just don't know how to have fun.

Oh My Gosh...
Now these people have just gone toooo FAR. I hate to tell you this sweetie, but I just would NOT be going. I don't need to lighten up, that is taking Christmas to far. Christmas is about CHRIST not about tipping a want to be Santa. Santa would never take, he only gives. Are you going to go?

I have heard everything now. I just can't believe that people would actually go. That is giving these folks the message that it is okay to celebrate like this.

Having a stripper for a bachelor party is one thing, but when they start defacing CHRISTmas then I have a problem. Keep me posted on this one girl. I am right there with you. This is wrong. Shame on them. Country hugs honey, Sherry

P.S. How is your daughter doing? Has she recovered okay, and will she still be able to have other children? Let me know.

I would not go to that party. In fact it would be down right embarrassing to have to watch it.
I hate it when people do that kind of thing and think it's cute.
On my 50th birthday, some of my friends sent a stripper into my place of business and I nearly died of embarrassment.
I just wouldn't go and I would tell my husband just what you told us.
As Sherry said, we are on your side.

I think I would have to pass on the birthday party. This just isn't for me...somehow,I just don't seem to care for the idea. Good luck deciding whether to go..if it's a really good friend, they may be offended if you don't go..but I would be offended if I went. hmmmmm

You are all so right. Not cute, not cool, not funny, not, not, not! Thank you for all the support. It helps to hear that others agree with me and are on my side.
Many Hugs~Cindy

Ditto! I can't imagine having to be a part of that. I wouldn't be attending that party. My $$$ are better spent elsewhere. Gusee there are a lot of us who feel the same way.
Cindy, life has been so crazy of late that I don't recall if I let you know that your sweet package of lavender arrived. Thank you! I plan to do a post about it as soon as the season settles down. You are so thoughtful. It is dear and I'm a huge fan of the calming nature of lavender.
Christmas hugs to you sweet friend....Sarah
