Ohhh so Pink Saturday

One of my favorite things is my bowl with precious angels all the way around.Inside, at the moment I have pink rose petals scented with rose oil. The dried rose petals don't have much of a natural scent, but, the petals hold the oil really well. Not too strong of smell, however, just a subtle fragrance that is not overbearing. I have some French Lavender that I use sometimes; also, very pretty. I love using dried flours and make my own potpourri. I set little bowls of dried flowers around my home or put some in an organza bag with a pretty ribbon to give as gifts. I'll show more of this soon. Ahhhhh, this is the life. I love my Emmett, a rescue cat that my hubby got me for Valentine's Day.

Safe? Boring Choice?

So I went with a can of Heirloom White spray paint from Home Depot. It looks nice, but, was the choice too safe? Sue from http://sullivanandmurphy.blogspot.com/ thought it would look scrumptious in cool green or bright hot pink. She's most certainly right! I, unfortunately, got that suggestion after I already painted. I guess I'll live with it for awhile, it's not bad; just safe and I usually don't go safe. Score at the Thrift Store

There is a Habitat for Humanity Thrift Store not far from my home. I popped in right before they were closing and cast my eye immediately on this desk/chair. It is HEAVY, in remarkable condition and has the little book shelf underneath. Probably about $20, thought I. It was only 8.50; yahoooo! Right away I'm thinking, what color should I paint it? Pink? This pair of Princess House crystal candle holders are outdated with shiny gold bases, but they were only two dollars each! I can easily spray paint the bases white or pink, which will make them look sooooo much better. What a deal!

My Pink McCoy Kitties

It's Saturday again! Saturday is quickly becoming my favorite day. Thanks agin, Beverly from How Sweet the Sound for hosting this fun event. Be sure to stop by and visit all the Pink-crazy sites.http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/ My "Pinks" are both kitties in vintage -style.

The back of both kitties is stamped McCoy, which is highly collectable pottery from the 40's?, 50's? I am 90% sure that these are reproductions because they are in really great shape.

I got this other pink kitty at the same time as the pink kitty creamer. Isn't it darling? You put string or yarn in the space in back and feed it through the kitty's mouth.

This is one of my favorite things. Actually 2 of my favorite things. My 17 pound gray blue cat, Emmett and my pink kitty creamer.

4th of July

Happy 4th of July, y'all!!! This is the best day ever as my grandson turns a year old today. My daughter Danielle and her son, Philip, are flying in from San Diego for a very quick weekend celebration. Danielle's husband, Tom, is in the Navy and is out to sea for about 3 months. Thank you, Tom, for serving our country!

Carter Worries So Much

Carter is another Aspie boy that I have the pleasure of working with. He is Asian and his parents' culture expects that Carter will get perfect grades. Carter is extremely gifted in math and science. But, ohhhh, how he worries about it. He reminds me of Eeyore from the Winnie the Pooh stories.

"Ooooooo no, today is going to be bad.....I have a math test and I'm going to do bad....ooooooh no....my parents will be ashamed of me.....my grandparents will be ashamed of me.....they will throw me out on the street and ooooohhhhh noooooo, that's where I will die.....all alone......

"Carter", I ask, "how'd you do on the test?"

"I got an A but on the next one I'm sure I will fail, ohhhhhhh no....."

Carter has my heart, most definitely.

Bench Makeover

This was a birthday present from Hubby 10 years ago. It has been outside all 10 of those years.

I usually love chippy white finishes, but, this needed something new.

My daughters said I should paint it black. I ran to Home Depot for a quart of black with glossy finish, so the rain can roll off better (my theory; don't know if it's true).

Started painting with a 90 degree southern exposure sun beating down on my back and tops of my feet. "Man, this paint is really runny". "Maybe I need to stir it better"

Maybe it'll look better if a sweet 16 year old son paints it on.

Still looks bad. It is a sheer black gloss!!!! I bought the wrong thing! I hope I can find another project to use it on. I hate wasting $$$$

The right kind of paint does the job. Add a yellow, black and white striped cushion for a new look.
